OSO
Small plates, seafood and cocktails in an intimate bistro on Revolución
OSO is a small restaurant on Revolución de 1910 in the centre of La Paz, from chef Alejandro Villagómez of NEMI, Quemadero and Azotea. It is modelled on a European bistro: a place for a glass of wine and something to share, or a full dinner, with the kitchen close to the tables.
The cooking mixes Mediterranean and modern European technique with local produce and Mexican flavours, and seafood leads: scallops, mussels, trout, mackerel, tuna and oysters. Dishes named by the chef include a beef tartare with smoked oysters, sweetbreads with aligot and chimichurri, and LatOsos, small plates served with sourdough bread. For dessert there is the MelOso, a honey sponge cake with lemon cream and damiana. The bar mixes a house mezcal cocktail, the MezcalOso, alongside negronis, classic cocktails and vermouths.
It is open from 6 to 11 PM Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays. The room is small, so book ahead online or by phone. Diners on Google put it at about MX$500–900 per person.
