Majagua
Mexican cooking over mesquite and charcoal on the pier at Marina Costa Baja
Majagua is a Mexican restaurant at Marina Costa Baja in Puerta Cortés, on the Pichilingue road. Its tables sit under a pergola at the edge of the pier, with about 90 seats. The entrance is through the Puerta Cortés gate: tell the guard you are coming to eat at the marina.
The kitchen cooks "from the garden to the table", with the catch of the day, cuts grilled over charcoal, tiraditos and tacos. Its chef, Rigoberto Alvarez, says two things define his cooking: local fish and mesquite wood. Dishes on the menu include short rib tacos with a red wine reduction, a tiradito of the day's catch with mint and cilantro, and a black shrimp aguachile with habanero ash, at about MX$210–310 a dish. The bar is known for its cocktails.
It is open every day from 2:30 PM to 11 PM. Reservations are required, on OpenTable, by phone or on WhatsApp. Next door, the La Ciruela boutique sells crafts and design from Mexican and Latin American brands during the same hours.
