Schedule note: Times are Baja Ferries' published schedule as of October 2026 and change from time to time. Check bajaferries.com.mx before you travel. Baja Ferries also warns that new security checks at Pichilingue can slow vehicles and cargo, and that inspections by the authorities in Topolobampo can delay boarding, so have your documents ready.

Fares

One-way fares in Mexican pesos, as published by Baja Ferries in October 2026. The car fare doesn't include the driver, so a driver pays an adult ticket plus the vehicle. A cabin is not included in any ticket.

Booking

  • Online at bajaferries.com.mx; the confirmation arrives by email.
  • By phone: Contact Center 800 337 7437 (toll-free in Mexico), or contactcenter@bajaferries.com.mx.
  • By WhatsApp, also the way to change a booking.
  • In person at the Pichilingue terminal or the downtown office on Calle Allende (hours below).
  • Book early for cabins (there are only a few) and for Semana Santa, summer and Christmas holidays.
  • Can't travel on your date? A ticket stays valid for 12 months: tell Baja Ferries 48 hours before the new date; each change costs $580 MXN plus any fare difference, subject to space.

Arrive 2 hours before with a vehicle, 1½ hours without

Baja Ferries' rule (trucks and cargo: 3 hours). Go to the ticket window with your confirmation and photo ID (passport for foreign visitors; original birth certificates for children) to get your printed boarding pass.

For Vehicles

  • Have your plates, vehicle registration card, valid driver's license and current insurance policy with you.
  • Foreign-plated vehicles need a Temporary Import Permit (TIP) to cross to the mainland; Banjercito issues them, and has an office at the port.
  • At the port you go through the weigh station and get a slip with your vehicle's weight and length for the ticket office.
  • Nobody can stay on the car decks during the crossing, pets included; everyone travels in the passenger areas.
  • On arrival only the driver goes down to the vehicle; other passengers walk off. Unloading cars takes 30 minutes to an hour.
  • A car can travel without you if an adult with ID is named to load and unload it. Motorcycles must travel with their rider.

On Board

Baja Ferries is a passenger and cargo ferry, so treat it as transportation rather than a cruise. Both ships are 193 m long and carry up to 400 passengers.

  • Every ticket includes one meal, plus coffee and bread, and a seat in the lounge (subject to availability)
  • Restaurant and bar with food and snacks for sale at set hours
  • Cabins sleep up to four in bunk beds, with TV and a full bathroom; the Mazatlán ship also has VIP cabins, rest capsules and a VIP lounge
  • Up to five checked bags of 25 kg each per passenger

Traveling with Pets

  • Up to two pets per passenger, $650 MXN each, one way.
  • Pets travel in a carrier with room to stand and lie down, in a pet area on board; you can visit with a crew member by prior arrangement.
  • Some ships have pet-friendly cabins where your pet stays with you (in its carrier or the cabin).
  • Pets can't stay in your car, and they can't travel without a passenger on board.

TMC — The Alternative

TMC (Transportación Marítima de California) runs cargo ferries from Pichilingue on the same two routes: to Mazatlán on Mon, Wed and Fri at 17:00, and to Topolobampo on Mon, Wed and Fri at 21:00.

  • Fares are per vehicle and a car fare includes its driver: $6,700 MXN to Mazatlán, $5,100 MXN to Topolobampo (2026)
  • Booked by phone (612 123 9226), by email or at its offices
  • Most passengers are truck drivers; seats in an air-conditioned lounge and two meals included

Compare both lines for your vehicle size, travel dates and comfort before booking.
