Bismarkcito
La Paz's classic seafood restaurant on the Malecón, known for lobster
Note: Also written Bismark-cito.
Bismarkcito is the classic seafood restaurant on the Malecón, on Paseo Álvaro Obregón between Constitución and Hidalgo, with a large terrace looking over the bay. It is a family business with roots going back to the late 1940s, and it is one of the best-known places for mariscos in La Paz.
Lobster is the specialty, alongside seafood tacos, ceviches and cocktails of local shellfish such as chocolate clams and oysters from the Baja coast; there are also pizzas for anyone not in the mood for seafood. The bar serves cocktails, with food at happy hour. Diners on Google report spending about $200–600 pesos per person.
It is open every day from 8 in the morning, so it works for a seafood breakfast as well as lunch or dinner by the water. The family's original restaurant, Bismark, is still open downtown on Santos Degollado at the corner of Altamirano, from 1 PM; its details are in the sidebar.

From a seafood cart to a Malecón institution
The family's story starts with Señora Clotilde, who sold fresh seafood from a cart in La Paz in the late 1940s. In 1968 the family opened a restaurant called Bismark in the city centre, and later opened Bismarkcito on the Malecón with the same menu; the "-ito" marks it as Bismark's offspring.
The family's restaurant group still runs it, and in March 2023 it took the name to Mexico City, opening Bismark-cito Polanco to serve Baja California Sur seafood in the capital.
