Mexico's federal tax authority on the La Paz Malecón: RFC, e.firma and taxpayer services, by appointment
The Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) is Mexico's federal tax authority. Its La Paz office is on the Malecón (Paseo Álvaro Obregón), between Ignacio Bañuelos Cabezud and Agustín Arreola, facing the bay.
For expats, the SAT is where you get an RFC (Registro Federal de Contribuyentes, Mexico's tax ID) and the e.firma, the electronic signature used for many online tax procedures. An RFC comes up when you sell property in Mexico, work or run a business here, or open some bank and investment accounts.
Many SAT procedures can be done online at sat.gob.mx. Those that need an in-person visit, such as getting or renewing the e.firma, are handled by appointment, booked at citas.sat.gob.mx.

In-person services are by appointment, booked online at citas.sat.gob.mx. Choose Baja California Sur and the La Paz office. Check sat.gob.mx first: many procedures, including getting a copy of your constancia de situación fiscal, can be done online without a visit.
